Frank McCourt

Francis McCourt was born to Irish immigrant parents; grew up in Limerick, Ireland, and returned to America in 1949. For thirty years he taught in various New York City high schools.  He won a Pulitzer Prize for his book Angela's Ashes, a tragicomic memoir of the misery and squalor of his childhood. He was born on 19 August 1930, in New York, New York, United States, and died on 19 July 2009, in Manhattan, New York, United States.
