Meet The Author

North Waltham, 1930: the sleepy Hampshire village where Emma Pearson lives with her husband and two daughters is untouched by the Depression that has ravaged much of the country, causing poverty and hardship.  When the villagers are asked to offer a rural holiday to orphaned children from the poorest parts of London, they welcome the opportunity to share their good fortune.

John and Tommy, two lads from the charity orphanage, come to stay with the Pearsons.  They have only experienced city life before so getting used to life out of the Big Smoke takes some time.  Although at first Emma is a little unsure about the boys staying, they soon become part of their close family.  A more important part than she ever expected…

A great read by Elizabeth Waite.
